THE VANISHING HALF.

Author: Brit Bennett.

Genre: Contemporary family drama, historical fiction.

Triggerwarnings: racism, domestic violence, colourism.

Rating: 4⭐

Teenage light skinned black identical twins, Desiree and Stella Vigne, elope from a small town called Mallard in Louisiana. But soon after, Stella just vanishes leaving behind nothing but a note for Desiree. Years later, Desiree returns to Mallard with her dark skinned daughter Jude, while Stella continues to live hidden as a white woman with her white husband and their daughter, Kennedy, abandoning her own family. Their lives reach a full circle when their respective daughters come face to face unintentionally threatening to unveil the lie on which Stella has built the foundation of her new life.

This is one of the best recommendations I have received. While the theme of the book is colourism, racism and domestic violence, it also highlights the prejudice of colorism within the community. It was disturbing and empowering at the same time. It shows how the colour of the skin determines a lot of aspects in the lives of the people. It talks about the extent to which black and coloured people are shunned, that they don’t mind losing their own identity in order to be accepted. Characterization by the skin colour is prominent in the story to emphasize on the affects of racism. It hovers on the idea of bigotry, ethnicity, regret and a life based on a compulsive lie.

This book is a non- linear, multi- generational story of the Vigne twins. The characters are dynamic, raw, and show their grey side of survival. I was able to get into the flow of its smooth narration easily. There is an audiobook on YouTube that you can check out.

I love poems ❤️!

!I got a review copy some days ago and here’s my Review !

The book starts with a pure, somewhat true essence of reality and deep knowledge of the godly existence.
Each poem deeply deals with very lilting nuances of existence.

With the collection of 45 poems, Author S.M Gaikwad has brought out his love for mother nature and his quality of profound observation of the environment.

One can find the stillness of the pond with the melodious tone of existence.

Each poem is describing a different aspect of happening from midnight to the current scenario of covid-19. Each poem will hold you with its aura.

One of the poems I liked the most also brings a candid outlook of the human psyche, i.e., Mother please Forgive me.

I will surely recommend this book to readers who are very much inclined towards poetry as these poems radiate the freshness of forest and garden.

Do check this book and if you do, ping meee 

NEVER LOOSE YOUR HOPE

Life is so unpredictable so “never loose your hope”,when tomorrow could be a magical new day.

Sometimes difficulties and adversities force all their might on us and cause us to fall apart. We all go through hard times in our life. All we need is to overcome all our fears to start again. Because not every morning is bright and not every night is dark. These hard times are a part of being alive and it’s the reality that we have to deal with it. But life isn’t always about darkness and sadness. Life is also filled with colours and that makes it beautiful.

Along with this dark path, there is always a light waiting to be seen by our daunted hearts. Just always remember to be grateful for what you have in your life. Our hearts are gifted to see light. Stay Strong And Never Give Up! Open your heart and be grateful for everything you have and you will see the ray of hope.

So, always remember that “Never loose your hope”. The darkest clouds precede the loveliest rain.

Stay happy, stay beautiful!!
