All of them are so well described, it feels like you know them personally and this is even more surprising when you realise that these diverse characters, cutting across professions, locations and gender are actually penned by a single person. BOOK NAME: URBAN CHRONICLES II

Author: Nita Bajoria @bajorianita

Edition: Paperback.

#Targetreader: Adults, parents, guardians.

#Rating: 4 ⭐

Genre: Graphic short stories.

▪️About the book:

Urban Chronicles ll is the second book in the graphic short stories series. It has three stories that centres upon the perils of the children of urban lifestyle where parents though provide everything superficially, fail to understand the child’s psychology. It shows how parents try to over protect, over provide, over discipline and are over ambitious with their children and in that process fail to address the child’s psychological needs.

▪️ My opinion:

All the three stories have beautiful illustrations and narration is expressive. The first story slightly irked me as i felt as it justified kidnapping with no reprimand. The reason for which the young woman kidnapped a child was not acceptable. Having said that, the stories impart a wonderful message of compassion for urban parents towards their children in this fast paced, high tech, competitive world. My favourite story is ‘Three women in a boat’. It was warm and relatable. It depicts parental anxiety that is passed on to next generations. A must read graphic novel for all grown ups.

Filthy Feelings of Emptiness

Labeling itself in a self-help corner of the store with not that bright and attractive cover, Filthy feeling of emptiness is a psychological book written by counseling Psychologist Kashish Pandey.

The book unfolds man’s emotional play and continues discovering other aspects of life in its 12 different chapters; issues like insecurities, emptiness in the life of men and women are talked about in a funny and very casual way.

Coming to the writing style, I wouldn’t say I liked the way the book was presented. It deals with some critical issues, but the writing is rather childish. I found the word ‘Fuck’ is overly used.

The book might have been more engaging. Considering its content, I will recommend this book to young people.

BOOK REVIEW

Book name: Of the Heart and Soul
– A Melliflous Whisper

Author: Piyali Mitra.

The cover of the book is attractive and peaceful with bright flowers and butterfly which will refresh your mind body and soul.

“OF THE HEART AND SOUL” by Piyali Mitra is a gardland of verses on love.
Love which gave the poet and writers the idea of presenting their thought, love which give happiness to people, love which can be source of inspiration to some while abjection for others and some of the poems are about the first love of every child “Mother”.

The poet melodiously and beautifully conveys her emotions with the essence of natural touch through her poems. The poems are heart touching, captivating and alluring. The most pure thing about the book is the way the poet presented the relationship between mother and a child which is so precious and lovely.

Some of the other poems which touched my heart are:

.To a loving heart.
.Welcome october.
.A call to her soul
.Mother- my life.

The writing style of the poet is engaging and very easy to to understand which will leave a warm feeling in the heart .

Fiction With A Tinge Of Reality by Shivangi Madhiyan

Fiction With A Tinge Of Reality is an amazing collection of short stories.

As the title suggests this book consists of fictional stories based on reality.

In all the stories the author has portrayed the message that we should do whatever makes us happy rather than thinking about opinions of other people on our decisions.

I liked all the stories from the book but Complementary Hugs, An Uncompromising Journalist, Defective Taboo, Leisurely Misery, Unrealistic Boundaries, Realigning Interiors and intangible Inheritance are my favourite stories from the book.

I liked the way how the author has depicted the message of seeking professional help for mental health of an individual in the story “Defective Taboo”

In the story “Realigning Interiors” the author assures the readers that it’s okay to take your own time to deal with the tough times in life.

Language is lucid.

I recommend this book to young adults

BLAHMAN AND THE TERRIFYING TERROR OF JESICA

The book is a comic read.  The book is filled with comic moments and laughters without any logic.  However,  the comedy doesn’t need any logic.  This book is 3rd in the series but its my first read and being impressed with this read, i am really fascinated towards the other two.

As the title justifies,  the story revolves around the main protagonist Blahman where he along with his sister and Aven are trapped in a cube by Jessica. They are in search of a way to get out.

The paperback version  also includes the colouring part and a cutout bookmark.
The language and narration is subtle and simple with jokes and laughs.
Overall, a pleasurable and funny read.

Destined to be yours By Komal Tayade

This is the story of friendship, love and loss.

I loved the way how author has weaved the story and depicted the message of moving on after the occurrence of catastrophe in life through this contemporary romance novel.

This is the love story of Vivaan and Samira.
On the first day of college, the moment Vivaan saw Samira he started liking her. It was love at first sight for him. Soon, Samira begin to like Vivaan. Their love started blooming with each passing day.

Vivaan proposed Samira for marriage. Just when everything was going perfect, a tragedy befalls Vivaan. Samira is depressed due to Vivaan’s death.

What plans does destiny has for Samira?

How will Samira move on?

Overall, it is a heart-warming and inspiring read.

The title and cover is apt for the book.

My favourite quotes from the book are as follows:

Some things will break your heart but fix your vision.

Some journeys take you far from where you come from, but closer to where you belong.

We never know whom we are going to stay with and who is destined to be a part of our life.

I recommend this book to everyone.

Warming bloom

The book is a collection of 50 poems where
Ten topics have been merged into five poems each.

The book discusses about several environmental issues that we are facing in current era like global warming, disasters, etc.
This book is relatable and connecting as we all are facing such issues.

It is indeed need of the hour.   It will at least make the readers aware about the concerns.
This book deserves reading and in my opinion everyone should read this.

The language is simple  and comprehensive with excellent  vocabulary.  The cover and title is very beautiful.  Highly recommended.

Lil Leela’s Journey

This is a children’s book where the main theme of the story is how natural surroundings and environment can be so fun which generally city kids are missing.

The story commences with Leela, a little girl and her family is planning to visit her father’s hometown, the village where he spent his childhood. She wants to pack her beautiful dresses and toys but her mother refrains her from doing so. She was perplexed how she would spend her days there without them but once she reaches there, the exploration, the activities let herself with a new perspective.

A very well developed story with beautiful illustrations that will keep the readers hooked throughout the story.Cover is beautiful and title is very appropriate. This story feels so real and I think it’s pertinent one for all the toddlers!
